When you go to learn Spanish in Alicante you'll have a fine
time enjoying this scenic city on the Costa Blanca. It's a
friendly city, with a famously beautiful boulevard by the sea,
great food and long long beaches.
You have to make sure you get out and talk to the local
native Spanish-speakers if you are serious about learning
Spanish in Alicante. In this town as in most towns in Spain it
is easy to do so as the locals are so friendly and open. But it
is also easy to talk English most of the time as many
English-speakers visit the city or go to live there. So be
strong and resist the English crowd!
If you are planning to learn Spanish in Alicante but don't
yet know the city well, here is a brief guide of what to
do:
You must visit the real attraction of the city: the
waterfront. The pedestrianised walkway 'Explanada de España'
that runs along the beach is stunning and dotted with nice
shops an dcafes. If you are lucky you will catch one of the
many outdoor concerts that regularly play there.
In the city center, you should visit the old narrow city
streets in 'El Barro' to soak up the atmosphere and visit the
Cathedral of Saint Nicholas.
You will find the city's best nighlife here and plenty of
cheap and cheerful bars and tabas bars. Here is where you
should regularly put your Spanish to the test in between
lessons as you learn Spanish in Alicante - talking to the locas
over a Canya (glass of beer).
You'll find all the practical things of the city around
Calle de Italia in the South West, such as the tourist
information, the post offices, the bus and train stations and
of course al the shopping.
The nice thing about he size of the city is that it offers
everything you could want to be entertained for a long time
there, but it is also just small enough to have a small town
feel to it, and you will often bump into people you know on the
streets. People who go to learn Spanish in Alicante invariably
have a great time.
